Valentino Rossi gives his views on potential Yamaha Return: US MotoGP

Valentino Rossi has throw light on his views for the potential Yamaha Return to Yamaha’s factory group in 2013 with speculations flourishing in Laguna Seca that Rossi is planning to reject a new two-year offer to continue with Ducati. Rossi left Yamaha at the end of 2010 to switch to Ducati that has turned into his personal nightmare for the nine-time world champion.

Rossi has been negotiating to return to Yamaha and to partner/ rival Jorge Lorenzo to get confirmed prior to the next round in Indianapolis.  He said in an interview, “At this stage, it is a big risk also because I can’t wait to make the decision. If not (Andrea) Dovizioso becomes very angry (laughs). But at the same time the problem is to wait for Audi and Ducati. It is very early to understand who will come to help Ducati, so I have to make a bet without seeing the situation very clear.

Rossi added, “My feeling has changed a lot because the situation has changed. I had some problems in the past with Jorge, especially because I was angry with Yamaha. After all I did for Yamaha they put in the team a very strong team-mate so I was p****d off with Yamaha more than him. Now it is a different situation and I understand that Yamaha made the right choice for Yamaha. This is not a big problem.”

Two podium finishes in 27 races and no sign of any major progress with the struggling Desmosedici have shaken Rossi’s faith in the Bologna factory to deliver the competitive package; he desperately craves to end his career on.

While asking about his second position for Yamaha, he said, “This is another important thing to make the choice because in Ducati I can be the number one and in Yamaha have Lorenzo. It is another thing to consider.”
